Welcome to Modern Language School of SVG !

Based in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Modern Language School of SVG was founded in 2008 and it is the main language school on the island. We offer English and Spanish courses to the local and international students.
Our school’s popularity is being increased due to the quality of our modern teaching methods which use the communicative approach to language learning in a natural proposal which integrates speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation in every lesson we teach.

How do I arrive in St. Vincent?

Flights coming to St. Vincent depart from Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad, St. Lucia, Martinique and Puerto Rico. St. Vincent’s main airport is Argyle International.

Do I need to process a visa to access St. Vincent to study at Modern Language School of SVG?

St. Vincent grants visa free access to most country nationals for a month. You will need a return ticket. A student visa will be processed before the first month has ended while you are studying in our school.

How old do I have to be to study at Modern Language School of SVG?

If you are coming to St. Vincent to study in our school, you have to be 18 years or older to enroll in an adult or young adult course. We offer courses to teenagers and children, but they have to reside in the country with their parents/guardians to join ours classes.

How fast will I learn my target language?

Our classes are dynamic and include the constant practice of the language from day one. You will be immersed in various activities which will encourage you to communicate in your target language inside and outside the classroom to help you to develop skills to interact with confidence progressively.

What language skills will I learn during my course and how will I learn them?

Our lessons are designed for you to practice reading, writing, speaking and listening comprehension and pronunciation within each lesson since our methodology is based on the communicative approach to teach a language which means, the practice of these skills will be integrated. However we offer extracurricular classes on the skill you want to improve for additional practice.

How much time will it take me to become fluent in my target language?

According to the CEFR level bands we are adhered to; each level has a certain length in hours. You will be escalating between the levels and becoming fluent progressively while you keep on studying the language constantly. For you to start becoming fluent you may need to reach a B1 level.

How long does a level take to complete?

An A1 level (beginners) for example, can be completed in 4-5 weeks if you enroll in 25 hours of guided learning per week, if you study less hours per week it will take longer to complete the level.

Do I need a level test if I am a total beginner?

Sometimes, there are false beginners, so we give our students a level test the first day of class to make sure they will start studying their target language from the level which best describes the students’ skills according to the test results.

What are the prices like?

Our prices are competitive and we offer the best prices possible in the Caribbean to study English and Spanish. The final price of the program will depend on the plan you will be enrolled in and whether you need additional services from us. When you book your course with us, we will send you a quotation which includes the tuition fees and the service fees you are requesting.

Am I getting a certificate at the end of the course?

Yes. Modern Language School of SVG issues a certificate of participation which indicates the hours completed in your level of studies. A certificate of completion will be issued upon completion of the total amount of hours of a level according to the CEFR.

How does online learning work?

We teach English or Spanish using Zoom in a one-on-one class. You choose the most convenient days and time from our timetable and organize you classes at you convenience. Our students can access a trial class by booking it on our website. You will need to have a computer, a pair of headphones, and a good internet connection.

What study materials do I get if I study online?

Most of the materials and assignments will be sent to you via email. We use the Skype screen share feature to develop the class, so a lot of resources will be screen shared during the class session.

Is online language learning as effective as in-person learning?

Online language learning is very convenient for those students who do not have time to go to in-person classes. You can study from any place in the world at a time which is convenient for you. It is flexible, you study at your pace and it is very effective as there is a personal interaction with the language instructor in a one-on-once class session, so the student will receive individualized attention to his or her linguistics needs.
